meet your teachers

MEET SAMBA & KAMOTA, SIBLINGS WITH A DEEP PASSION FOR YOGA AND MINDFULNESS.

Sibling duo Kamota and Samba will guide you through a thoughtful and grounding practice adapted to any yoga level. Both based in Lusaka, Zambia’s capital, Kamota and Samba aim to improve physical and mental well-being, mobility, flexibility, and strength while reducing stress through yoga practice.

Kamota leads Hatha classes at Yondi Wellness and uses her 5+ years of experience to take her students beyond poses. Her approach to yoga uses asanas, breathwork and mindfulness to slow down, be present and connect with the self.

Samba’s exploration into yoga is founded in a holistic approach to balance, strength and flexibility. He leads Vinyasa classes in Lusaka and encourages students to push themselves and go further in their practice. He brings a sense of balance into every flow and will help you cultivate a practice as unique as you are.

WHAT IS THE DAILY SCHEDULE?

Each of the six days of the retreat will combine one yoga session and one safari activity, such as a game drive in the morning and yoga session in the afternoon or vice versa. Safari activities include game drives, night drives and boat cruises along the Zambezi River. In between, you’ll have free time to explore, relax and enjoy Anabezi’s two swimming pools or the private plunge pool in your tented suite.

ARE MEALS PROVIDED, AND WHAT TYPE OF FOOD CAN I EXPECT?

Yes, all meals are provided, and they are designed to nourish your body and mind. Expect delicious, healthy, and balanced meals made with fresh, local ingredients. We cater to various dietary preferences, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and others. Please let us know in advance if you have any specific dietary requirements.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO PREPARE FOR THE RETREAT?

In the weeks leading up to the retreat, try to incorporate a regular yoga practice into your routine, even if it’s just a few minutes a day. This will help you ease into the retreat and make the most of your time on the mat. Also, ensure you’re well-rested and hydrated before your arrival.

Absolutely! Many people attend yoga retreats on their own. It’s a great way to meet like-minded individuals, and we create a warm, welcoming environment where you’ll feel part of the community.

WHAT IF I HAVE SPECIFIC CONCERNS OR INJURIES?

Please inform us of any health concerns or injuries before the retreat so we can make appropriate adjustments. Our instructors are experienced in providing modifications to ensure that everyone can participate safely.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

All participants for Wellness in the Wild 2025 will receive Anabezi’s Travel Guide with all of the important information on traveling to Zambia. We suggest bringing a combination of yoga clothing and safari-friendly clothing. Daily laundry is available in camp free of charge. Don’t forget to pack layers, as the temperature can vary, and a journal if you’d like to reflect on your experience.

Anabezi provides reusable water bottles and we do have yoga mats available, but if you have your own preferred mat we suggest you bring it along! Blocks and straps will be provided by your yoga teachers.

WHAT LEVEL OF YOGA DO I NEED TO ATTEND THE RETREAT?

Our retreat welcomes participants of all yoga levels, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners. Classes are tailored to accommodate everyone, and modifications will be offered to ensure you feel comfortable and supported throughout your practice. Your teachers will guide you gently into poses with a combination of Vinyasa, Hatha and Yin, with options for beginner and more advanced poses.
