Get to know the anabezi team

Proudly Zambian

Anabezi is a family-owned, independently run and operated safari camp. All of our camp staff are Zambian, and the majority hail from the neighboring Chiawa Game Management area just outside the park. Not only does our team go above and beyond to make sure your stay is exceptional, they also have a deep understanding of the Lower Zambezi ecosystem and its many inhabitants.

Dennis

GENERAL MANAGER

Born and bred in Livingstone, Dennis had an extensive background in hospitality before coming on as General Manager of Anabezi in 2022.

As an avid lover of nature and wildlife, Dennis has adjusted quickly to life in the bush. He’s also a big fan of food and polished, luxury travel and has brought his invaluable knowledge and experience to Anabezi Camp.

One of his most memorable sightings from last season: two lionesses taking down an impala just outside of Tent 8!

Dennis is known for his positivity and warmth. As he says, “Creating special memories for all of our guests brings me the greatest of joy.”

Mpunga

FRONT OF HOUSE MANAGER

Mpunga hails from Ndola in Zambia’s Copperbelt Province, where as a young girl she had dreams of becoming a zoologist.

Fast forward to 2017, when Mpunga found a different way to understand and learn about animals by becoming a qualified safari guide.  Today she is part of the Anabezi team as Front of House Manager, bringing her vital skills into the bush in a different capacity.

As she says herself, “I love what I do. Meeting and interacting with people from all over the world is on of the things I enjoy most.”

Mwila

ANABEZI PRO GUIDE

Mwila began in South Luangwa as a mechanic, fixing and maintaining game viewing vehicles. He was so inspired by watching safari guides, he decided to become one.

Today Mwila has been guiding for 17 years and has been working in Lower Zambezi National Park for the last 12. He knows the Winterthorn Forest like the back of his hand and a drive with Mwila will never disappoint. His specialties are walking safaris and birding, and he loves to sit and observe leopard behavior.

Nathan

ANABEZI PRO GUIDE

Nathan has been in the safari industry for 12 years and guiding since 2015. He's known for his infectious smile and never ending good mood.

Nathan's first introduction to Lower Zambezi National Park was on a school visit, where he was part of a group of students invited to stay with Conservation Lower Zambezi for several nights . This visit both inspired him to become a guide and sparked a passion for nature and wildlife.

Prisley

ANABEZI PRO GUIDE

Known around camp as “The Leopard Whisperer,” Prisley began his career as a brick layer at a safari lodge back in 2000. This inspired him to learn more about guiding, and in 2007 he received a scholarship to train as a guide at Conservation Lower Zambezi.

After 16 years of guiding in Lower Zambezi, Prisley knows the valley like the back of his hand and is an avid bird lover. His big smile and good-natured sense of humor always light up the room.

Lawrence

ANABEZI PRO GUIDE

Lawrence began in the safari industry as a general worker on 2000 and quickly moved up the ranks, qualifying for his guiding license in 2004.

With 22 years in Lower Zambezi National Park under his belt - 19 of which have been spent guiding - Lawrence is a bonafide expert on the area. He has a keen eye for birds and a pair of binoculars always handy.

One his most memorable sightings: a full grown lion pouncing on a leopard which had just made a fresh kill.
